About Us

Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) - Gujarat Chapter

Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) - Gujarat Chapter is a government-backed initiative that focuses on promoting women entrepreneurship. It provides a unified platform to connect women entrepreneurs with various resources and support systems, including skill development, incubation, training, mentoring, marketing support and funding. WEP aims to create an enabling ecosystem for women to start, grow and scale their businesses, ultimately contributing to women's economic empowerment.

Ichha Shakti : The power of motivation represents motivating aspiring entrepreneurs to start their businesses.
Gyaan Shakti : The power of knowledge represents providing knowledge and ecosystem support to women entrepreneurs
Karma Shakti :The power of action represents providing hands-on support to women entrepreneurs in setting up and scaling up their businesses.

Rationale: Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) is one of the most important steps to bring lasting socio-economic change at the societal level. Despite several attempts in the recent past, there is still a wide gender gap in terms of job-market participation and enterprise ownership in our country. There is a need of understanding their issues and barriers in a more detailed way and designed some policy interventions suited to their needs. There is a large chunk of women who are engaged in very tedious labour work, and with proper policy intervention and capacity-building, they can start their micro-enterprise/skill-based business and join the mainstream of economic activity

Vision: To mainstream disadvantaged women groups through strategically designed economic empowerment initiatives and provide research-based inputs for policy advocacy.

Objectives

Understand issues & barriers face by women & design policy interventions suited to their needs
Foster a robust & inclusive ecosystem for women entrepreneurs
One-stop solution for research, policy-advocacy & promotion of overall economic empowerment of women
Identify and assess entrepreneurial potential and opportunities for promoting women entrepreneurship in the state
Handholding, counseling, mentoring prospective and existing women entrepreneurs for technology know-how, credit linkages, marketing support and regulatory compliances
Strengthen & streamline collaboration between state & central government
